Paddlers must complete their fitness benchmarking exercises over a maximum of 2 days. Results of each exercise will be recorded after every attempt. Exercise results beyond the first attempt for each exercise will not be recorded. (i.e. no do-overs)

Paddlers selected as an Aurora in the 2015 IDBF World Nations Championships may submit their monthly fitness test result for December in lieu of participating in the Fitness Benchmarking tests on dates listed above.

Metropolitan Paddlers – Tests will be conducted 10am – 2pm at Shed 2, North Wharf Road, Docklands

Fitness Benchmarking Criteria
The key difference between good Club paddlers, State paddlers and National paddlers is their strength and fitness. The other state teams will have a fair proportion of Aurora paddlers, so if we are to improve we must step up.

Therefore we will benchmark all paddlers before selection. No paddlers will be excluded on the basis of their December fitness results, but all are encouraged to improve their results over the paddling season. The exercises are a modified version of those used to benchmark the current Auroras. The weights are reduced so they will be within the capability of all paddlers. Of course, the number of repetitions may well be unattainable when you first begin, but practice and guidance will see rapid performance improvements.
